The annual exodus for the All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day holidays has begun, with nearly 200,000 travelers leaving the Batangas port and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange on Wednesday.

Batangas port manager Joselito Sinocruz said Wednesday’s passenger volume reached over 15,000, more than double the 6,000 average daily volume of passengers at the port. He said he expects the volume of passengers to 20,000.

Majority of passengers are traveling to Mindoro provinces, Romblon, and Roxas.

Transport of relief goods and construction materials for areas affected by severe tropical storm Kristine will be prioritized, he said.

Similarly, passengers leaving the PITX reached 168,000 on Wednesday, which could balloon to 200,000 today, PITX corporate manager Kolyn Calbasa said.

Calbasa said many passengers have been unable to travel to Bicol since last week after severe tropical storm Kristine left major roads impassable.

Travel of small to medium-sized pets will be allowed as long as these are caged, she said.
