A former follower of the Philippines-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ has alleged that officials of the mega church had smuggled hundreds of thousands of dollars from California to the Philippines twice before a similar incident last year.

Witness Kristina Angeles saw church founder pastor Apollo Quiboloy and Felina Salinas, a manager for the church's Hawaii branch, smuggle the money in 2013 and 2014, federal prosecutors said in court documents.

Assistant US Attorney Michael Albanese said the money was concealed in socks packed in suitcases that were sent to the Philippines.

Salinas and Davao-based Quiboloy were arrested in Hawaii February last year after authorities seized undeclared cash amounting to $350,000 and gun parts in his private plane.

Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed son of God and ardent supporter of Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte was released a day later. Salinas, meanwhile, wears a GPS ankle bracelet and is barred from going near any ports as she undergoes trial.
