DFA: Number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad now at 1,922

MANILA — The number of Filipinos abroad who have contracted the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is now at 1,922, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

The agency also said the death toll is now at 222, with 7 new deaths from the Americas.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries are at 557.

As of Tuesday, 1,143 of the identified cases are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down regionally as follows: 132 in the Asia-Pacific, 389 in Europe, 379 in the Middle East and Africa, and 243 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the coronavirus disease has so far infected 10,343 people, with 685 deaths and 1,618 recoveries.

The Philippine government has been repatriating Filipinos overseas who wished to come home amid the pandemic, preparing facilities to quarantine workers for 14 days before returning to their hometowns.
