Mga Pinoy sa Kuwait, ikinatuwa ang pag-aayos ng gusot na dulot ng ‘rescue’ video

KUWAIT—Ikinatuwa ng mga Pilipino rito ang pagkakaayos ng Pilipinas at Kuwait matapos ang gusot na dulot ng isang kontrobersiyal na rescue video sa overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) dito.

Ipinakita umano sa video ang direktang pagsagip ng mga miyembro ng Philippine embassy dito sa mga distressed OFWs mula sa tahanan ng kanilang employers.

Dahil dito, naghain ng 2 diplomatic protests ang Kuwait laban sa umano'y paglabag ng Philippine embassy sa Vienna Convention dahil sa pamamaraan ng kanilang pagtulong sa mga distressed OFWs sa kumalat na video.

"Masaya na po kasi akala namin hindi na po maayos. Kinakabahan po kami kasi baka pauwiin kami nang di oras at saka 6 na taon na po ako nagtratragabaho sa Kuwait at salamat sa Diyos OK na po ang komunikasyon ng Kuwait at Philippines," ani Rosanna Perando, OFW sa Kuwait.

Nagpasalamat naman si Ambassador Renato Pedro Villa sa Kuwait at muling nagpaumanhin.

Nauna rito, humingi ng paumanhin si Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.

"It was never the intention of the embassy to offend the sensitivities of the Kuwaiti government and the Kuwaiti people. It was also never the intention of the embassy to violate the sovereignty and internal processes of the state of Kuwait in the few occasion that we were compelled to respond to the urgent calls for assistance from our people," ani Villa.

Pinabulaanan ni Villa ang mga umikot na balita sa mga Arabic newspapers na pauuwiin siya ng Pilipinas.

"I look forward to continue to working with the Kuwaiti government in addressing matters of mutual concern and in further strengthening the ties that bind our countries and people," aniya.

Samantala, nanatili pa rin sa loob ng embahada ang Department of Foreign Affairs augmentation team sa pangunguna ni Raul Dado, executive director ng DFA office of migrant workers affairs.

Inaasikaso naman ngayon ng abogado ng embassy ang 4 na OFW na naaresto at nagsilbing mga driver ng DFA augmentation team.
