HONG KONG - The Philippine Consulate here on Wednesday confirmed that another Filipino domestic worker was quarantined following exposure to her employer who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The case would be the second Filipino put in quarantine in less than a month.

"Just like the first case, she is healthy and asymptomatic, but per HK protocol, she must undergo 14-day quarantine," Consul General Raly Tejada told ABS-CBN News in a text message.

The domestic worker is reportedly the employee of the 39-year-old man, who is also Hong Kong's 13th confirmed case, and died of sudden heart failure on Tuesday. The man lived in Whampoa Gardens and is Hong Kong's first novel coronavirus casualty.

In a South China Morning Post report, authorities are now tracking down the older brother of the 39-year-old coronavirus victim who lived with their 72-year-old mother.

She was confirmed to also carry the virus.

The Post report, quoting a neighbor, said the mother lived with the elder son and that the deceased man, his wife, their two children and a Filipino domestic helper lived three floors higher.

The revelation could just be tip of the iceberg as Hong Kong health authorities are currently investigating three more suspected cases of coronavirus. As of February 5, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 18.

As of this writing, the Consulate is still verifying whether there are more cases of domestic workers who may have possibly come into contact with Hong Kong's confirmed cases.

More details to follow.
