Video posted on social media showed a Fedex cargo plane engine on fire on Saturday as it flew to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on March 1, 2025.
Reuters was able to independently verify the date and location through original file metadata. Flight tracking data matches reports of aircraft flying back to point of origin.
According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane had taken off from Newark en route to Indianapolis when it struck a bird, damaging one of the Boeing 767's engines.
FedEx said the plane safely made an emergency landing at the Newark airport. No injuries were reported.
