The unexpected burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani on Friday brought mixed reactions from Filipinos.

Ten days after the Supreme Court voted 9-5-1 for the burial of the late strongman, people were caught off-guard by the news that the remains of Marcos had been flown from Ilocos Norte to Taguig City for the burial that the Marcos family had been fighting for.

Victims of humans rights victims during Marcos’ authoritarian rule reacted in disbelief as they had been trying to stop the burial of the former president at the Heroes Cemetery.
