Residents were shocked after a hill, where a quarry site sits, collapsed on houses.

The landslide left dozens dead or missing in barangays in Naga City in Cebu early Thursday morning.

Relatives rushed to the site after receiving messages from relatives trapped under the rubble, but eventually lost communication few hours later. Many are still waiting for news on survivors, a day after the tragic accident.

Residents from 5 villages located on the foot of the hill have been evacuated as monsoon rains continue to threaten the area.  The environment secretary has also issued a directive suspending quarrying operations nationwide.
