In adherence to safety guidelines issued by the Inter-Agency Task Forced on Emerging Infectious Disease, railway systems in Metro Manila have been operating at 20 percent of its normal capacity as it strictly implements physical distancing in trains and its stations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The implementation of the Bus Augmentation Program by the Transportation department aims to address gaps as MRT-3 operates under limited capacity.

Commuters may avail of the 30-minute bus ride under the program from MRT-3 North Avenue station going to Taft station in Pasay City. Buses leave the terminals in fixed schedule to augment the current limited operations of MRT-3.

The bus terminal at the MRT-3 Guadalupe Station provides a glimpse on how the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and DOTr plan to make bus terminals situated at the inner lanes of EDSA accessible to commuters.

Out of the 16 stops identified, the agency aims to have 6 bus stops operational in a week, according to MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago.

To make the inner bus lanes accessible to elderlies and persons with disabilities, DOTr plans to provide manlifts going to the bus terminals.
