MANILA — The physician of the House of Representatives recommended temporarily excusing Cassandra Li Ong from the ongoing House Quad Committee hearing on the issue of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) on Wednesday night.

This recommendation came after Ong felt dizzy and her blood pressure dropped to 80/40 during the hearing.

According to House Physician Dr. Jose Luis Bautista, Ong’s condition is unstable.

“To put it in a nutshell, Ms. Cassandra Li Ong is quite unstable as of this moment. Definitely, as I saw earlier, her blood pressure was very low, unreadable na,” he said.

“Her blood pressure tight now is only 80/40. We cannot take this one in separate, blood sugar and blood pressure, it is all intertwined. That’s why I can say she is quite unstable now, one thing can affect the other thing,” Bautista added.

Bautista also recommended that Ong be immediately taken to the hospital for medical tests.

“This morning, when we checked her blood, her blood pressure is only 70/40 and we did some things but right now, just to let you know right now we recommended to the secretary general, It think it will be coursed through you also, that she be worked up properly before we can give the proper diagnosis to what she is having right now because we actually don't know if it is because of heart failure or something like that,” he said.

The lawmakers agreed with Bautista's recommendation to send Ong to a hospital to undergo medical examinations.

“For humanitarian reason, I believe we have to excuse Ms Cassie Ong from this proceeding and allow out doctors to conduct a thorough examination on her because basically she is under our custody and we have to make sure  that she will be healthy the next committee hearing that we require her her attendance,” he said.

The quad committee is yet to announce the schedule for the next hearing.
