MANILA — Alberto Rodulfo "AR" Dela Serna confirmed on Wednesday that he and Atty. Harry Roque have a joint bank account.

Dela Serna revealed this during the quad committee hearing held by the House of Representatives.

“I have a joint account with Atty. Harry Roque… sa pagkakaalam ko po Mr. Chair, closed na ang account na iyon,” said Dela Serna.

House Committee on Public Order and Safety chairperson Dan Fernandez inquired about the money that was deposited into the said bank account.

According to Dela Serna, the largest amount deposited in a single transaction reached P3-million.

“Sa pagkakaalala ko, that account was used for election,” Dela Serna explained.

Dela Serna also admitted that he was able to withdraw between P1.2 million to P1.8 million from their joint account with Roque.

“Once a month yun for election purposes. Payroll ng mga tao,” he said.

TRAVELS WITH ROQUE

Dela Serna also revealed that he traveled abroad with Roque six times in 2023.

“The first trip was a trip to Hong Kong po. Sa pagkakaalala ko, Mr.Chair, iyon po yung premier night ng isang movie po with the Marcos Family… iyong movie po ni Senator Imee, may premier night po that time,” he said.

However, Rep. Romeo Acop pointed out that Dela Serna and Roque also went to China.

"Yes, to Beijing," Dela Serna confirmed.

ROQUE'S FAVORITE?

Dela Serna also responded to Acop's question about why he was allegedly Roque's "favorite."

“Sana’y po kasi ako magtrabaho kasama si Sir Harry… alam ko yung medical needs ni Atty. Roque, madaming beses na po ako nagbiyahe sa kanya, not only abroad but also here in the Philippines,” Dela Serna said.

Acop also inquired why Dela Serna continued to work for Roque even after Roque was no longer in Malacañang.

“Kasama po ako sa campaign team ni Atty. Roque,” Dela Serna said.

“2024 yung pinag uusapan natin, anim na beses kayo lumabas ng bansa, namang kampanya na nangyari noong 2023,” Acop stressed.

SOLAR POWER PLANT

Meanwhile, Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing questioned why Dela Serna agreed to remain Roque's employee even though his salary had decreased to P20,000 compared to the previous amount, which allegedly ranged from P37,000 to P52,000.

“Mayroon kasi kaming private conversation ni Atty. Roque… mayroon siyang iniutos sa akin regarding business venture niya, if that would boom, then I would beneft also po,” Dela Serna explained.

Dela Serna was referring to the Northern Cebu Renewable Energy Corporation, a solar power plant that is reportedly being built in Cebu.

“Hindi ako umalis kay Sir Harry kasi maganda naman yung opportunity kasi the solar plant kn Cebu parang mag-oopen na po soon,” Dela Serna said.

Suansing also asked Dela Serna why he agreed to open a joint bank account with Roque.

“Kahit na tumatanggap siya ng P20,000 per month na sahod, pumayag siya na magbukas ng joint bank account kasama si Atty. Harry Roque na hindi niya alam ang pumapasok, magkano ang pumasok, magkano ang lumabas,” Suansing said.

“Hindi naman ako ipapahamak ni Atty. Roque… iyon po ang basis ko to trust Atty. Roque,” Dela Serna answered.
