MANILA (3rd UPDATE) - Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has been raised over several areas in northern Luzon after tropical storm Enteng (International name: Yagi) made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora, the state weather bureau said Tuesday morning.  

In its 2 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the tropical storm was last located near Kabugao, Apayao, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hpur near the center, and gusts of up to 125 kph.

Enteng earlier made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora at around 2 p.m., and is now moving north northwestward at 25 kph.

 Signal No. 2 has been raised over the following areas, which may experience gale force winds within 24 hours:

  • Ilocos Norte
  • Northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, San Ildefonso, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, City of Vigan, Bantay, Santa, Caoayan)
  • Apayao
  • Abra
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
  • Northern and central portions of Isabela (Santo Tomas, Alicia, San Mateo, Aurora, Santa Maria, Quezon, San Mariano, Ramon, Naguilian, Roxas, San Guillermo, Luna, Delfin Albano, City of Cauayan, Echague, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Angadanan, Benito Soliven, City of Santiago, Tumauini, Cabagan, Reina Mercedes, San Manuel, Cabatuan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, San Isidro, Mallig, Cordon, Jones, Maconacon, Burgos, San Agustin)
  • Northern portion of Quirino (Cabarroguis, Diffun, Saguday, Aglipay), and the northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Diadi, Bagabag)


Signal No. 1, on the other hand, was hoisted over the following areas: 


    • Batanes
    • The rest of Ilocos Sur
    • La Union
    • Benguet
    • The rest of Isabela
    • The rest of Nueva Vizcaya
    • The rest of Quirino
    • Northeastern Nueva Ecija (Carranglan, Pantabangan, Bongabon), and the northern and central portions of Aurora (Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan) 


PAGASA warned of intense rainfall due to the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat over parts of Luzon and Visayas within the next three days, while areas under tropical cyclone wind signals may experience between 50 to 200 millimeters of accumulated rainfall until Tuesday.

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will also bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon (especially along the western portions) over the next three days.

Enteng is expected to continue moving northwestward over northern Cordillera Administrative Region, and is expected to emerge over the northwestern portion of Ilocos Region by Tuesday morning.

From Tuesday to Thursday, Enteng will move generally westward over the West Philippine Sea, before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday morning.

Enteng is also expected to remain a tropical storm while traversing mainlaind northern Luzon, before intensifying into a severe tropical storm by Tuesday afternoon or evening, and into a typhoon by Thursday.

“Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” PAGASA warned
