MANILA — Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said on Tuesday it is studying the possibility of giving fuel subsidy to fishermen affected by oil spill in Bataan province.

“We instructed BFAR today to get our technical people there. The agriculture chief explained that it is in the process of figuring out what alternative livelihood can be offered to affected fishermen.

NO OFFICIAL REPORT OF BIRD FLU OUTBREAK IN TARLAC
Meanwhile, the Agriculture chief clarified that as of the latest, there is no official report from the local authorities in Tarlac that there is a bird flu outbreak in the area.

Agriculture Undersecretary for Swine and Livestock Dr. Constante Palabrica assured the public that it will issue a statement once the alleged outbreak in any parts of the country is confirmed.
“Within this week may ilalabas na ang BAI confirming kung merong bird flu. May 3 farm sa Tarlac ngayon ay itinakbo ngayong araw na ito, kapag nakita naming positive - we’ll announce it's positive pero yung mga statement na may bird flu, hindi pa namin puwedeng i-validate,” Palabrica explained.
