MANILA (UPDATED) —  Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday confirmed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership ordered the relief of 75 cops assigned for her security. 

In a statement, Duterte said the 75 PNP Police and Security Group personnel received an order from the PNP chief on Monday, July 22.

She said the order will not affect her work as vice president.

"Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang ating trabaho upang makapaghatid tayo ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan — lalong-lalo na sa mga liblib o underserved communities sa ating bansa," Duterte said.

"I do hope, however, that with this latest directive of the Chief PNP, we hear less cries from the people regarding the proliferation of drugs in the country, and that even fewer shall fall victim to various criminal activities," she added.

According to PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil, he has reassigned some of the police security detail of Duterte to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) because they lack personnel.

Marbil said the reassignment of these policemen were explained and coordinated with the Office of the Vice President. 

"The Presidential Security Command is ready to ensure the security and safety of the Vice President," said Brig. Gen. Nelson Morales, PSC Commander, in a statement Tuesday. -with reports from Niko Baua and Pia Gutierrez, ABS-CBN News
