Both houses of Congress suspended work on Wednesday due to inclement weather brought on by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina.

Senate President Francis Escudero suspended work at the Upper Chamber Wednesday due to the deep flood at the Senate entrance and the forecast for medium to heavy rains over Metro Manila and nearby areas. Senate session will resume at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 29. 

Work at the House of Representatives including conduct of plenary sessions and committee hearings was also suspended Wednesday, according to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

Malacanang suspended anew work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region Wednesday morning due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

At 5 a.m., PAGASA issued a red rainfall warning in Metro Manila, Rizal and Bataan, indicating serious floods in low-lying areas.
