MANILA — Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go was not able to attend the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., saying he took a stress test on Tuesday instead.

Go said he took the stress test, which checks a patient's cardiac health, to find out if he is physically fit to go around the country for continued service to Filipinos. The first-termer Partido Demokratiko Pilipino senator is expected to seek reelection in 2025.

Go did not say if he had a medical condition but a medical staff is seen extracting his blood in a post on his Facebook page.

“Madami na rin naman sila dun. Ayoko na makipagsisikan,” Go said in a statement.

(There’s a lot of them there already. I don’t want to squeeze in.)

He said that he watched the President's speech on TV and would track the promises made at the State of the Nation Address, which is done during a joint session of Congress.

Go said he supports the programs and plans of the Marcos administration but he is more keen on watching for the results that Filipinos should benefit from.

“I hope and pray that the administration will give priority to programs that will directly benefit and uplift the lives of the poor, particularly in strengthening our healthcare system as well as reducing inflation.”

Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa — like Go, a reelectionist PDP senator — was also absent during the SONA. He has not yet issued a statement.
