MANILA -- The local government of Malabon on Sunday announced the suspension of classes at all levels in the city's public and private schools on Monday, July 22.

In an online post, the Malabon LGU said that this is due to the rains brought by the southwest monsoon. The rains are expected to be enhanced by tropical storm Carina.

“Batay sa rekomendasyon ng Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), suspendido ang klase sa lahat ng antas sa pampubliko at pampribadong paaralan sa lungsod bukas, Hulyo 22, 2024 dahil sa habagat sa NCR na inaasahang palalakasin ng Bagyong Carina,” the Malabon LGU said. 

“Ayon sa pinakahuling update mula sa PAGASA, maaari itong magdala ng malakas na pag-ulan na aabot sa 50 hanggang 100mm sa Hulyo 22 at 23.”

They also advised the public regarding the expected high tide at 11:05 a.m. on Monday.

'Carina' strengthens into a tropical storm

“Inaasahang magkakaroon ng mataas na tubig dagat sa ganap na 11:05 AM na may taas na 2.0 metro sa mga nabanggit na petsa,” said the announcement.
