Corazon Dandan's family and friends filled the funeral home where her remains lie to pay their last respects to the 74-year-old.

The Filipino-American died from injuries after she was pushed at the San Francisco BART train station on July 1 allegedly by a homeless man identified as Trevor Belmont.

Loved ones took turns to remember Dandan, whom they called as strong, generous, and loving.

The elderly Fil-Am was born in Parañaque just south of the capital Manila. She migrated to the U.S. in the 80s and eventually bought a house in Daly City, where many of her family members stayed from time to time.

Dandan was divorced and had no children. Her nieces and nephews, however, recalled her as the cool "Tita Cora," the aunt who helped send them to school and fun trips.

"I’ll miss the phone calls when she’s at work," said Raniel Dandan. "She’ll put on hold for 20 minutes at most because she had to do her job taking phone calls at the hotel."

Elena Dandan, meanwhile, remembered her aunt as the life of the party.

"I knew her as the 'Balikbayan tita' that everyone was excited about coming home," said Elena. "She was the fun [and] groovy auntie. She opened her doors for us."

Dandan's siblings said she worked hard for years to build a dream home in Tagaytay in the Philippines. She had hoped to retire there where her Fil-Am family could also stay for vacation.

Danilo Dandan said his elder sister was special because she was the "glue of the family."

"Her unconditional love for her family was deep," he said. "She was the kind of sister you wish your family had."

Local leaders also came to pay their respects to Dandan. Daly City Mayor Juslyn Manalo presented a formal commendation to the family in memory of the Fil-Am.

"She shined a bright light of what a phenomenal woman is," said Mayor Juslyn Manalo. "To me, as a Filipina, [she is] an inspiration."

Family members said they plan to bring Dandan's cremated remains back to the Philippines at a later date.

As for the legal proceedings against Belmont, the San Francisco judge hearing the case has delayed anew the arraignment of the suspect.

Belmont reportedly remains in the hospital and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation.

His arraignment has been delayed six times now. He was arrested immediately after the attack on Dandan.

The San Francisco District Attorney charged Belmont with one count of murder. The complaint also alleged he inflicted great bodily injury on a vulnerable victim, and that he intentionally killed Dandan while lying in wait.

Belmont, who was previously convicted for lewd behavior, could face life in prison without parole if found guilty in the killing of Dandan.
