MANILA — The camp of suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo on Tuesday said they respect the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman dismissing their motion for reconsideration to lift the preventive suspension against the controversial politician.

Lawyer Stephen David, Guo's legal counsel, said they have other legal remedies, including filing a petition for certiorari before the Court of Appeals.

"I respect the Ombudsman pero ako I do not agree... So aakyat ako sa Court of Appeals," David said.

David also mentioned that the mayor is now significantly affected by the situation.

"Hindi na gaya ng dati. Medyo affected na siya kasi nga marami nang sunod sunod na banat sa kanya," he said.

They believe that this is part of the political harassment against Guo.

Meanwhile, Guo’s camp will also pursue the filing of cyber libel cases against those allegedly defaming her.

On June 3, the Office of the Ombudsman put Guo and other officials of Bamban, Tarlac under preventive suspension, pending the results of an investigation into a complaint filed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government over illegal activities at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator complex in the town.

In a nine-page order, Ombudsman Samuel Martires ordered Guo, Business Permit and Licensing Officer Edwin Ocampo and Municipal Legal Officer Adenn Sigua put on preventive suspension to keep them from interfering in the investigation into the following raps filed by DILG:

- Grave Misconduct

- Serious Dishonesty

- Gross Neglect of Duty

- Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service
