MANILA -- A commercial ship carrying seafarers has reportedly been attacked by Houthi rebels through the use of drones.

In a TeleRadyo Serbisyo’s Story Outlook  interview on Sunday, Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac assured that the seafarers onboard are all safe and that they are keeping in touch with the families.

"Yes, merong naiulat na naatake nga itong  barko na ito ng drones," he said. "Pero alam natin na naglalayag na muli yung barko at ganun na lang muna siguro. Safe ang crew at we continue to monitor the situation."

"Yes, we are in touch through the licensed manning agency. We continue to be in touch with the families and pati yung ship owner," Cacdac also said.

Cacdac refused to give further details.

This attack comes after the Houthi rebels attacked Greek-owned MV Tutor carrying 22 Filipino seafarers with double missiles last June 12. The 21 seafarers rescued have returned back safely to the Philippines, but one crew remains missing.
