Aghon slightly intensifies; 18 areas under Signal No. 1

MANILA – Tropical depression Aghon slightly intensified on Friday afternoon, PAGASA said, as it raised Wind Signal No. 1 over 18 areas. 


In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said Aghon was packing maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour and up to 70 kph gusts. 


PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 over the following areas, where 39 to 61 kph winds and intermittent rains  are expected. 


Luzon

Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte (San Vicente, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Basud, Daet, Talisay, Mercedes), and Masbate including Ticao Island, Burias Island


Visayas

Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, and Camotes Islands


Mindanao

Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur (Sibagat, City of Bayugan, Prosperidad, San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, Trento), and Agusan del Norte

 

Aghon was spotted 135 km east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 1 p.m. It was moving northwestward at 25 kph. 


It could graze or make landfall over Eastern Samar on Saturday morning and Catanduanes on Saturday evening.
