MANILA -- A vessel sailing to Yemen was hit by a drone attack on Saturday.

Fortunately, all 23 Filipino crewmen onboard that vessel remained safe and unharmed, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

The DMW said the ship which sustained slight damage was sailing close to the Yemeni port city of Hodeida when it was attacked by Houthi rebels.

The vessel is now on its way to its next port of call.

The DMW is closely coordinating with international maritime authorities and local manning agencies on the status of ships with Filipino seafarers sailing in high risk areas and war-like zones in the Red Sea and the Gulf Of Aden.

Last March, two Filipinos were killed and several other Pinoy seafarers were injured when a missile struck a Barbados-flagged, Liberian-owned MV True Confidence's fuel tanks.
