MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday said his pictures with controversial Bamban Mayor Alice Guo “prove nothing,” underscoring that he never says no to people who ask him for selfies.

Marcos Jr. made the statement when asked to comment about Guo’s post which showed them together during an event, after the President earlier claimed that he does not know the mayor who is being linked to illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations.

“That proves nothing. You know how many pictures I take during a campaign? Siguro isang libo sa isang araw,” he told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Makati.

“Lahat naman ng humihingi ng selfie hindi ko naman hinihindian so it doesn’t really mean anything,” he said.

Marcos Jr. said that there are no “definitive conclusions” yet as to the executive branch’s probe on the Bamban mayor who claims to be unaware of why her birth certificate was only registered when she was 17 years old.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier urged the Office of the Ombudsman to suspend the Bamban Mayor who is in the center of controversy after failing to answer basic questions about her identity during a Senate inquiry.
