MANILA — Renato Constantino, Jr. has passed away on Thursday, April 4, his family announced Friday. He was 79.

"With great sadness we announce the passing of Renato Constantino, Jr... We mourn the unbearable loss even as we celebrate a life fully lived," the Constantino Foundation said on Facebook.

His passing was confirmed by his son Red Constantino. 

"Sad news, friends and family. Our much loved RC has moved on. He asked that we celebrate instead of spending too much time mourning. To live life with meaning and purpose," he announced on Facebook.

Contantino was an activist during the martial law era. He was the son of late historian Renato Constantino, Sr. and father of ABS-CBN News journalist Karmina Constantino.

A wake will be held starting April 8, Monday until April 10, Wednesday at 38 Panay Ave., Barangay Paligsahan in Quezon City.

The family would make further announcements on the Facebook page of Constantino Foundation.
