MANILA - ABS-CBN News Senior Reporter Raphael Bosano was selected as one of ten 2024 fellows of the Metcalf Institute at the University of Rhode Island.

The annual program is “designed to help fellows gain new insights, engage deeply with scientists, researchers, policy makers and community members to aid their reporting, expand peer networks with journalists from around the globe, and produce accurate and contextualized reporting grounded in science on globally relevant climate and environmental issues.”

This year’s ten fellows were selected from 150 applications from 32 countries and will “dive deep into issues such as water quality, equity and sustainability, and ecosystem restoration, all through a social justice lens.”

Bosano is ABS-CBN News’ lead reporter for Science. He covers critical topics on the environment, climate change, disasters and their consequential effects on communities. Prior to his current role, his coverage focused on public health and disease outbreaks. His longest running coverage so far was the COVID-19 pandemic where the Philippines imposed one of the longest lockdowns and mask mandates throughout the world.

Bosano is also an award-winning storyteller, having received accolades for his pandemic documentary “Heroes In The Hot Zone” and Marawi siege special “Paglayang Minamahal” (Beloved Freedom).
