The residents said they had received a 30 minute advance warning of the attack and were not in the building at the time of the bombing, but added it was too short a time to evacuate, people panicked and chaos ensued.

"They told us to evacuate the tower within half an hour... People were startled, running down the stairs, some fell, it was chaos," said Mohammad al-Nabrees, a displaced Gazan from Khan Younis, who was sheltering for the time being in al-Masri tower.
