Passengers bound for domestic destinations continue to flock to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Wednesday for the long Holy Week break.

Some of them opted to come early and spend the night outside the terminal's departure area, hours before their scheduled flights this Holy Wednesday.

Jay Cabalez, who lives in Fairview, Quezon City, said it is better to come 2 hours before their flight to Boracay to avoid the morning rush hour traffic. He will fly to Boracay with his friends for the holidays.

"Alam naman natin na kapag nasa Metro Manila tayo sobrang traffic kaya nag-allot kami ng 2 hours. Kahit sobrang aga namin sa airport okay lang. At least nandito na kami, hihintayin na lang namin ang flight namin. Sa sobrang stress na sa work, need natin mag-unwind so napili namin ang Holy Week para makapagrelax kasama ang mga kaibigan ko po. Boracay po," he said.

(We all know that the traffic is heavy here in Metro Manila, that's why we alloted 2 hours. It's okay to go very early at the airport, at least we are here already and we can just wait for our flight. I'm stressed at work and we need to unwind so my friends and I chose the Holy Week to relax in Boracay)

Ginalyn, also one of the early birds, came to the airport 6 hours before her flight to Bacolod at 8 a.m.

"Para mas maaga kami sa flight namin at hindi kami madelay, galing pa kami ng Bulacan. Kailangan ko po umuwi sir para sa anak ko. Matagal po ako hindi nakauwi, isang taon din hindi nakauwi," she said.

(We want to come earlier than our scheduled flight so we won't get delayed because we came from Bulacan. I need to go home for my child, it's been a year since I came home.)

Long queues from cars going up the departure area could be seen as early as 5 in the morning, and heavy traffic is expected throughout the day. There are also long lines from passengers entering the area for security inspection.

Airport security personnel are stationed in different areas to ensure safety and also to give assistance to passengers.

According to the latest data from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) they recorded around 124,481 passengers at the airport last Monday, and are expecting an influx of passengers until late this evening. They are expecting around 1 million passengers going in and out of NAIA from March 24 to 31.
