A female cat was saved from a life-threatening injury after being hit in the head with an arrow by an unknown individual in Barangay Gumalang, Davao City.

Mary Joy Villamor posted on social media photos and videos of the cat with an arrow in the head that she found and rescued on Monday (March 18, 2024). She named the cat Arrow or "Ar-ar."

Villamor told ABS-CBN News that she helped the cat owner to bring the pet to the hospital, but they do not know attacked the feline.

Arrow was brought to the Davao Emergency Veterinary Hospital (DEVH), where doctors performed blood transfusion and extensive surgery to save the cat.

The doctors at DEVH said the arrow was lodged deeply in the cat's skull, affecting delicate tissues of the brain.

Hours later, DEVH personnel said the surgery was successful after the doctors removed the arrow from the cat's head.

The hospital also shared Arrow's progress and road to recovery on Thursday (March 21, 2024).

"Arrow has been eating well and thankfully had no seizures overnight. It's a small but significant step forward in her journey," the DEVH said in their Facebook page.

The DEVH said the incident was already reported to the police and reminded the public to stop animal cruelty.

"Arrow's ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the atrocities that innocent animals endure every day. We cannot afford to wait for another tragedy before taking action," the DEVH said.

Villamor continues to appeal for help in the medical expenses of Arrow's hospitalization.
