An animal rescue organization on Monday expressed shock over the death of a pet dog who was stabbed by a Korean national after he was bitten by another stray canine in Manila. 

Atty. Heidi Caguioa, President of the Animal Kingdom Foundation reminded the public that killing the dog was not the proper response. 

Instead, the dog that bit the Korean should have been contained and observed for any indication of rabies, Caguioa said. 

She also reminded pet owners to secure their animals. Under the law, owners are required to pay for the treatment of individuals bitten by their dog, she noted.
