MALAYSIA — Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday said her plans for the next elections are still “unpredictable” as of this time.

“Ang sinasabi ko lagi ay ang pulitika ay parang buhay lang iyan, hindi mo alam kung anong mangyayari bukas,” she told reporters when asked if she is interested to run in the 2025 midterm or the 2028 national elections.

The 2025 midterm elections is for the election of senators, congressmen and local government officials, while the 2028 national elections is for the election of the next President, which is also when Duterte's term ends for Vice-President.

In a speech in an event in Barangay Bago Gallera, Davao City in January, Duterte announced that she would run for public office in the next election.

She mentioned that her brothers, Davao City Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, had already indicated they might not run for office again.

When pressed for details in succeeding interviews, she said that her statements were interpreted in a “piecemeal” manner.

She, however, neither confirmed nor denied that she has plans to run in the next elections.

"Tinatanggal nila ang isang linya para sabihin kung anong gusto nila na interpretation," she said. "Ayaw ko na kasi siya pahabain, pero kapag tinranslate naman iyon sa Tagalog o sa ibang language, iyon pa rin ang message ko," Duterte also said.

ABS-CBN has since asked the Office of the Vice President for an official transcript and translation of her remarks in Davao City, but her office has yet to provide a copy.
