Dumlao says 400,000 family food packs worth P125 million worth of humanitarian assistance have been released so far in areas affected by typhoons Nika, Ofel, and Pepito, with some 1.3 million family food packs prepositioned in various warehouses.

Meanwhile, the DSWD has committed an additional 45,000 family food packs for the province of Catanduanes, which has been hit hard by typhoon Pepito. This is on top of the 10,000 family food packs already prepositioned in Catanduanes ahead of the typhoon, she said.

“As we enter into the early recovery phase, other interventions may already be introduced, such as emergency cash transfer, cash for work... “We are implementing this after the conduct of the rapid damage assessment and needs analysis where we are able to determine that additional needs are necessary. Paraiso says that while these equipment are mainly focused for disaster response, the DICT is also able to provide “access points” to allow residents in areas that have been hit hard by typhoons to communicate with their loved ones.
