MANILA (UPDATED) — Life-threatening conditions continue over the eastern section of Luzon as Super Typhoon Pepito moves over the sea east of Quezon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 is up over eastern Polillo Islands in Quezon and Calaguas Islands in Camarines Norte. These areas may expect very strong winds above 185 kilometers per hour in the next 12 hours.

At 7 a.m. Sunday, Pepito was located over the coastal waters of Vinzons, Camarines Norte, still packing winds of 185 kph and gusts up to 255 kph. It is moving northwestward at 15 kph.

It may make landfall over northern Quezon or southern Aurora this Sunday noon or afternoon.

It will then cross northern Central Luzon and southern Northern Luzon later this afternoon and evening before emerging over the West Philippine Sea.

Heavy to torrential rains will batter the following areas:

• Bicol through early Sunday

• eastern Luzon early to midday Sunday

• Northern and Central Luzon Sunday afternoon and evening

Metro Manila may be rainiest between late morning to evening Sunday.

Pepito will be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday.

Destructive winds, torrential rains, and storm surge may cause widespread and serious damage, flooding, and landslides in many parts of Luzon, especially along the immediate path of the typhoon.

Signal No. 4 (Winds of 118 kph to 184 kph in the next 12 hours) has been raised over the following areas:
