Drone footage from the Philippine Red Cross shows widespread damage caused by Typhoon Ofel (Usagi) in northern Philippines. 

Residents grappled with widespread damage after Typhoon Ofel (Usagi) barrelled down on the Philippines' northern towns, leaving a trail of destruction in Cagayan province on Friday (November 15).

Drone video released by the Philippine Red Cross showed residents walking past destroyed bridges and farmland littered with debris in Cagayan province on Friday. 

Ofel intensified into a super typhoon as it made landfall in the town of Baggao in Cagayan province on Thursday (November 14) afternoon.

Philippine meteorological agency PAGASA said that Ofel has since weakened and is now headed towards Taiwan.

Ofel is the 15th cyclone to hit the Philippines this year. Officials are already bracing for another typhoon, Pepito (Man-yi), which could hit eastern towns and the capital region over the weekend as it continues to intensify in the western Pacific ocean. - report from Reuters
