Maria Tan, ABS-CBN NewsMANILA -- Former Senator Leila de Lima criticized former President Rodrigo Duterte for a gesture he made during the Quad Comm hearing at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, wherein he appeared as if he wanted to throw a punch at her.

According to De Lima, she was unaware of the former president's gesture at the time, as she was answering lawmakers' questions.

"Hindi ko nakita until may dalawa o tatlo sa akin nag-message…. Mayroon pa isa na nagpadala ng video mismo," she said.

Upon finally viewing the video, De Lima admitted feeling offended.

"That was so unbecoming, that was offensive kasi wala na siyang any sense of decency, ang tawag diyan, indecency na wala naman ako ginagawa sa kanya tapos ganun ang reaction niya," she emphasized.

For the former senator, Duterte's gesture was a display of cowardice.

"Ang isa pang tawag diyan, kaduwagan, isa siyang duwag," she said.

Duterte's gesture came after De Lima's manifestation about his pronouncement of taking "full responsibility" for his anti-drug campaign, and his apparent refusal to say her name during the proceedings.

De Lima is one of Duterte's fiercest critics, and had been incarcerated for nearly seven years following accusations implicating her in the illegal drug trade at the National Bilibid Prison. Her accusers later retracted their claims, leading to the dismissal of the charges against her.

They sat beside each other during the committee hearing into extrajudicial killings and Duterte's bloody war on drugs on Wednesday.
