MANILA — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Saturday that casualties from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine have risen to 27.


Based on the 8 a.m. situational report, the majority of fatalities were reported in the Bicol region, the area most severely impacted by the typhoon.


NDRRMC also listed 20 injured and five missing persons, all still pending confirmation.

The NDRRMC said a total of 986,974 families — more than 4.2 million people — have been affected.


Over 80,000 families have sought refuge in evacuation centers. 



In the Bicol region over 2 million individuals have been affected after the severe tropical storm first made landfall there.


The next hardest-hit area was the Eastern Visayas, where 685,049 individuals were affected. 


Another 435,135 people were impacted in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the third worst-hit region in the Philippines.
