MANILA (2nd UPDATE) -- Some local government units (LGUs) have decided to suspend classes on Thursday, October 24, due to severe tropical storm Kristine.

Classes at all levels in the following areas have been suspended:

Aurora

Bicol Region (Region V)

Batangas

Bulacan

Cavite

Dagupan City (until October 25)

-Lumban

-Santa Cruz

-Paete

Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental (face-to-face classes only)

Metro Manila

-Las Piñas City

-Mandaluyong City

-Manila City

-Marikina City

-Parañaque City

-Pasay City

-Pasig City

-Quezon City

-San Juan City

-Taguig City

-Valenzuela City

Oriental Mindoro

Paracelis, Mountain Province

Pangasinan

Pampanga

Rizal, Nueva Ecija

Romblon

Rizal province

Tarlac

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

Face-to-face classes in public schools in all levels in Los Baños, Laguna, are also suspended.

In its 5 p.m. advisory Wednesday, PAGASA said the center of the storm was last seen 175 km east of Echague, Isabela, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 95 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 115 kph.

Signal No. 3 is currently hoisted over Cagayan Valley region, Cordillera Administrative Region and parts of northern Luzon, while Signal No. 2 is raised over Metro Manila, central Luzon, southern Tagalog region, parts of northern Luzon and parts of Bicol region.

Kristine may make landfall over Isabela between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday.
