Handout/PAGASATrack and intensity forecast of severe tropical storm Kristine as of 11:00 p.m. on October 23, 2024. Handout/PAGASAPAGASA also warned of moderate to high-risk of life-threatening storm surge up to 2 meters above normal tide levels over the coastal localities of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union Pangasinan, Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales and Aurora in the next 48 hours.

After making landfall, PAGASA said Kristine will traverse the mountainous terrain of northern Luzon before emerging over the waters west of Ilocos Region Thursday morning or afternoon. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday afternoon.

Due to its interaction with land, Kristine may slightly weaken into a tropical storm. However, it may re-intensify once it moves over the West Philippine Sea.

At least 7 people were killed, and thousands were forced to evacuate, due to Kristine.

The weather disturbance has also prompted class suspensions in Luzon.
