SAGÑAY, Camarines Sur - (UPDATE) At least 12 bodies have been retrieved from two separate landslides in this province, local disaster officials said Sunday in the aftermath of tropical depression Usman.

Rescuers have retrieved at least 8 bodies from a landslide in Barangay Patitinan in this town of Sagñay, while they search for several other people possibly buried in thick mud, officials said. These fatalities have yet to be identified as of posting.

Meanwhile, the bodies of 4 family members retrieved from a landslide in the town of Baao after nearly an hour of digging by the rescuers.

Authorities said 30-year-old Babylen de Lima and her 3 children were sleeping when the landslide buried their house in Barangay Antipolo.

Benjie de Lima, Babylen's husband, was drinking with friends at a neighbor's house when the landslide happened, thinking nothing would happen at that time because the rains had already stopped falling.

Meanwhile, authorities also said a certain Ricardo Mancera of Goa town in Camarines Sur reportedly drowned while crossing a river during the storm's onslaught.

Heavy rains brought by the storm triggered landslides and widespread floods in the Camarines provinces.

Authorities earlier reported 4 people dead in two separate landslides in Camarines Norte.

Disaster officials also reported 3 fatalities in a landslide in Legazpi City, Albay, and 2 more deaths in a separate landslide in Sorsogon City during the peak of the year-end storm.

As of posting, a lot of main roads in the hard-hit areas in the Bicol region remain impassable, while power lines and signals are still down, making it difficult for disaster officials to coordinate.
