CARLES, Iloilo— Several island barangays here are still isolated due to communication and transportation problems after Typhoon Ursula wrought destruction in the province, damaging 6,000 houses in this town.

At least 14 island barangays in Carles have yet to report to the local disaster management office on the damage caused by the typhoon.

Among these barangays are the three remote places on Isla de Gigantes, where Ursula made landfall early morning on Wednesday, Christmas Day.
