MANILA— (2nd UPDATE) A reward of P3 million is being offered to anybody who can provide information that can lead to the arrest of the killers of Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe.

The money was raised by 54 congressmen, Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Albee Benitez said on Saturday.

Batocabe, 52, was gunned down Saturday by still unidentified assailants during a gift-giving activity near the Burgos Elementary School in his hometown Daraga, Albay.

The party-list lawmaker, who is in his last term as a congressman, was eyeing the mayoral post in Daraga in next year's polls.

The reward money is expected to go up, as Benitez said he secured the commitment of more than 100 congressmen.

Several lawmakers have condemned Batocabe's killing and urged law enforcers to immediately bring the perpetrators to justice.
