MRT extends operating hours to service passengers during holiday rush

MANILA - The MRT 3 on Thursday said it has extended operating hours starting Dec. 16 to service the influx of passengers during the holiday rush.

Trains will depart from the North Avenue stations earlier than the usual 5:30 a.m. schedule, following requests from passengers, the Department of Transportation said in an advisory.

The first train will depart from North Avenue station at 4:27 a.m. on Dec. 16, 22, 23, 24, 30 and 31 while the first train will depart at 4:25 a.m. on Dec. 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21, the DOTr said.

On Dec. 16, 22 and 23, the last train from Taft Avenue Station will depart at 11:03 p.m., while the last train on Dec. 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 will leave Taft at 11:01 p.m.

The train will also be open to service passengers on Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and Jan. 1 (New Year).

The first train will leave North Avenue at 6:28 a.m. while the last train will leave Taft Avenue Station at 10:03 p.m Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2019.
