MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has named Interior Undersecretary for Operations John Castriciones as acting Agrarian Reform Secretary.
Castriciones will take charge of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) following the rejection of Duterte’s first appointee to the post, activist Rafael Mariano, last September.
Castriciones, who Duterte had appointed to the DILG in September 2016, was one of 3 interior undersecretaries who accused former DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno of various abuses in the department, including alleged ties to gambling syndicates and an anomalous deal to procure fire trucks.
Duterte fired Sueno in April over corruption allegations.
Malacañang has yet to say what will happen to Castriciones’ post at the DILG.
