MANILA -- An anti-graft court on Friday found former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca guilty of malversation and graft and sentenced her to serve time in prison.

The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division handed Padaca a 12-14 year prison term for malversation and another 6-10 year term for graft. The case stemmed from the alleged misuse of P25 million in agricultural funds in 2016.

Padaca and her lawyer, Rogelio Vinluan, said they would file a motion for reconsideration to reverse the verdict.

Only the dispositive portion of the decision was read during the promulgation, Friday, as the court has yet to release the full decision.

The court approved the payment of double her P70,000 existing bond for her provisional liberty while her appeal is pending..

Padaca said she did not expect the guilty verdict as she had authority from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement for the release of the funds to the farmers.

"I don't even know what to say, yung P25 million na yun ni isang sentimo walang naputna sa akin, lahat napunta sa magsasaka ng Isabela," Padaca said.
