MANILA—A new low-pressure area (LPA) will bring scattered rains in parts of the country Tuesday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The weather disturbance was last spotted at 910 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 3 a.m., weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga and the province of Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.

The brewing storm may intensify into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours, Bulquerin added. It will then be given the local name "Ramon."

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather with chances of isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
