MANILA - Actor and now Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez called as "ridiculous" the allegations that he is involved in the drug trade, through supposed ties with slain Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa.

Gomez was among several high-ranking government officials in Leyte who were supposedly part of the "Espinosa Drug Group." He was tagged during a Senate probe Thursday.

Apart from Gomez, also named were former justice Vicente Veloso, Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla, former justice and now Leyte 3rd District Rep. Vicente Veloso, and Baybay City Vice Mayor Michael Cari were involved in the illegal drug dealings of Espinosa, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) provincial officer Leo Laraga said.
