MANILA - (UPDATE) The name of the "Libingan ng mga Bayani" (LNMB) in Google Maps has been altered, a day after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos there.

On Wednesday morning, clicking the "Libingan ng mga Bayani Manila, NCR" entry in Google Maps brings a map user to the image of the cemetery, tagged with "Libingan ng mga Bayani at Isang Magnanakaw."

Names of locations in Google maps may be user-generated. The recent name change is not sanctioned by Google Philippines.

"Some inappropriate results are surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologize for any offense this may have caused," the internet giant told ABS-CBN News in an emailed statement.

"Our teams are working to fix this issue quickly," it added.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court, voting 9-5-1, ruled in favor of burying the late strongman at the Heroes' Cemetery.

Those who voted for Marcos' burial at LNMB said there was no grave abuse of discretion on the part of the President Rodrigo Duterte in ordering the burial, and that Marcos was qualified to be buried there.

Five magistrates, meanwhile, namely Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Associate Justices Marvic Leonen, Benjamin Caguioa, Francis Jardeleza, and Antonio Carpio, opposed the interment at the LNMB.

Chief Justice Sereno said Marcos’ burial at the LNMB would run counter to the duty to combat impunity as well as to preserve memory - all of which are international commitments that the Philippines is bound to observe.

Meanwhile, human rights victims during the Martial Law years said they will continue their quest for justice.

Ramon Casiple, Secretary General of the Claimants 1081, said their group already scheduled a meeting where they will discuss "in the framework of continuing the fight, a political fight to other venues."
