MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte's net trust rating rose to +62 in the third quarter of the year, results of a September survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed Saturday.

The survey showed that 74 percent of adult Filipinos said they have "much trust" in the President, with 14 percent "undecided" and 12 percent with "little trust" in Duterte.

Duterte maintained his "very good" rating, receiving a five-point increase from his +57 score in June.

Since his inauguration in 2016, Duterte's trust rating has never gone down from "very good."

The September 15 to 23 survey was taken in the wake of Duterte's issuance of a proclamation voiding the amnesty of fierce critic Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who led uprisings in 2003 and 2007, and his administration's response to a rice crisis and the devastation wrought by Typhoon Ompong.

The SWS said Duterte has received an "excellent" rating in five surveys, and a "very good" rating in four surveys, giving him an average net trust rating of a "very good" +68 so far in his presidency.

The five-point increase in Duterte's overall net trust rating from June to September 2018 was due to increases in Metro Manila and Balance Luzon.

Net trust in Duterte rose from "good" to "very good" in Metro Manila, up by 9 points from June's +42 to +51 in September.

His net trust rating also remained "very good" in Balance Luzon, with a 10-point increase from +50 in June to +60 in September.

Duterte maintained his "good" rating in Visayas, and his "excellent" rating in his home region Mindanao, with numbers barely moving in both.

Duterte also received the trust of Filipinos across all educational backgrounds, receiving a "very good" rating among elementary school graduates, non-elementary graduates, high school graduates and college graduates.

Compared to other presidents, Duterte has received the highest average net trust rating during his presidency.

From the SWS surveys of October 1989 and April 1992, Corazon Aquino obtained an average net trust of a "good" +33.

On the other hand, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo obtained a moderate +27 in February 2004. Her trust ratings remained negative until her term ended in 2010.

Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, meanwhile, obtained an average net trust rating of a "very good" +59 from September 2011 to June 2016.

The SWS did not survey the trust ratings of Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada during their presidency.

The SWS took the survey from September 15 to 23, 2018, using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults aged 18 and older nationwide.

The SWS surveyed 600 adults in Balance Luzon and 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.

It had sampling error margins of ±3 percent for national percentages, ±4 percent for Balance Luzon, and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
