MANILA - Marikina City Second District Representative Romero "Miro" Quimbo has decided not to run for city mayor in next year's elections.
In a statement Wednesday, Quimbo said he will not run for Marikina mayor to focus on his tasks as member of the opposition Liberal Party.
(This is a difficult decision but I choose to forego my personal dream to respond to a bigger challenge - to work on our party, the Liberal Party - and to strengthen the opposition in our country.)
Quimbo, a lawyer, started his career in government as deputy chief executive officer of the Pag-IBIG Fund in 2001.
In 2010, Quimbo was elected the city's second district representative.
