Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has filed his certificate of candidacy, running for the vice gubernatorial post in the midterm election.

CEBU - Governor Hilario Davide III filed his certificate of candidacy on Tuesday morning to run as vice governor of the province in the 2019 midterm election.

Davide will be switching places with his runningmate, vice governor Agnes Magpale who will bid for the gubernatorial post against 3rd District Rep. Gwen Garcia.

Earlier this year, Garcia was ordered dismissed by the Office of the Ombudsman for her approval, as then governor of Cebu, of the purchase of the P98.9-million Balili property in Naga City in 2008, much of which was later found to be underwater.

The Ombudsman's dismissal order against Garcia disqualifies her from holding public office and forfeits her retirement benefits.
