MANILA - A Taiwanese tourist paid fines after she was seen almost naked while walking along the shores of Boracay Island.

The Malay auxiliary police issued a citation ticket to the unidentified female tourist, who was penalized for wearing G-string during her two "naked" incidents on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10. Her photos wearing the skimpy swimsuits have made rounds on social media.

Police Maj. Jess Baylon, chief of Boracay Malay Police Station, said they invited the management of the hotel where the tourist stayed, the female tourist and her Taiwanese boyfriend for questioning.

"Mayroong ordinance ang municipality of Malay du'n sa mga nagsa-sunbathing na nakahubad [at] topless. And also, 'yung talagang walang saplot, talagang ina-apprehend 'yun," Baylon said.

(We have an ordinance against those who sunbathe naked and topless. Those who are naked should really be apprehended.)

Since the tourist could not speak and understand English, her boyfriend talked to the police on her behalf.

"Isa [daw] 'yun sa way nila in order for them to express themselves how confident she is na may ganyang katawan siya, and for them, it's okay with them kasi sa lugar nila, medyo liberated," Baylon said.

(It's how they express themselves, to show how confident she is with her body. From where they came from, they think they did nothing wrong because they are liberated.)

Authorities also reminded management of resorts and hotels in Boracay to inform their guests about the rules and regulations in the island.

"This will be the eye-opener. They must be briefed, and they must inform their guests upon check-in that they have to follow the proper decorum and the rules and regulations inside the island," said Baylon.

Baylon added the tourist and her boyfriend have since left the island.
